Abstract
My Senior Thesis revolves around the modern-day discourse between globalization and culture in Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan. To explore how globalization is perceived in Taipei I focus on two case studies, the Taipei 101 tower and the city's Night Markets, and refer to personal interviews with Taipei locals and foreigners. This paper addresses the cultural tensions between globalization and traditional Taiwanese histories, while providing examples of how globalization is reinterpreted as a part of Taipei's evolving local culture.

Comments
This Senior Exercise was completed in conjunction with my Studio Arts senior thesis project. My Studio Arts project is an animated film that compares Taipei City's urban movement and cultures with New York City's. While the content of this film does not specifically focus on Taipei and globalization, the visual motifs found in the animation demonstrate elements of Taipei's increasingly globalized culture.
