Abstract
Muslim immigration is a very recent and controversial issue in France. A secular country with strong republican values, France has not been an easy place for Muslim immigrants to integrate into. France’s history, language and culture, based fundamentally on Christian principles have contributed to this struggle. This thesis will explore the reasons for this struggle and the ways in which both French society and Muslim immigrants have responded.
