Abstract
Reverend Nathaniel Sheldon Wheaton was the second president of Trinity College, then Washington College, from 1831 to 1837. He was heavily involved in the Trinity community and Hartford, Connecticut as president of college, the second secretary of the Board of Trustees, a professor and rector of Christ Church in Hartford. He was a white, religious male who defended slavery in his religious work and during his time at Trinity.
