Description
As the magnet school program administrator for the Hartford Public Schools, Ed Linehan discusses magnet school marketing practices and voluntary school desegregation policies regarding the Sheff v O'Neill case. He also describes the challenges in recruiting white suburban students to attend an urban district, and informational mailings that his office sends to suburban homes about educational opportunities in magnet schools. Comparisons are made with magnet schools operated by the Capitol Region Educational Council (CREC).
