Abstract
This sociological survey of the African-American community in Hartford examines population trends, migration motives, housing conditions, family structure, employment (including domestic service, manufacturing, tobacco farms, labor unions), and the church. Based upon the best available scan (in 2011) of a copy provided by the National Urban League to Connecticut State Library (in 1994).
